A Cape Vincent NY woman is accused of stealing nearly $50,000 from the dentist office she worked for.

Jul. 25, 2023 • WATERTOWN, New York • Alicia R. Countryman, 39, of 27323 Fox Creed Road, Cape Vincent, was charged by Watertown police at 3:55 p.m. July 21 at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building with first-degree falsifying business records and third-degree grand larceny, both felonies.

Watertown police say that Countryman allegedly adjusted her timecard as an employee of Ward and Coalter Dental on Washington Street in Watertown to reflect longer hours than she actually worked

Countryman is accused of “auditing her time card by adjusting her times which she arrived and left work to defraud Ward and Coalter Dental, 825 Washington St., of pay which the defendant was not at work to receive, attempting to conceal the larceny of pay for time which she did not earn,” on April 1, 2022, according to court documents.

It is also alleged “the defendant did knowingly and intentionally steal the cash deposits from Ward and Coalter Dental totaling $47,279.28, when she did fail to make the deposits into the business account,” police wrote.

Countryman was charged with first-degree falsifying business records and third-degree grand larceny, both felonies, and second-degree falsifying business records, a misdemeanor.

Countryman was released without bail after her first court appearance.
