FEB 24, 2025 – A Co Antrim woman has been ordered to stand trial accused of stealing almost £1,000 in cash from a dental practice.

Appearing in the dock of Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, Megan Dowie confirmed she was aware of the two charges against her.

The 27-year-old, from Erskine Park in Ballyclare, is charged with two counts of theft in that on January 31 and February 8 last year, she stole cash amounting to £861 from Clear Dental.

None of the alleged facts giving rise to the charges were opened in court but during a preliminary enquiry, a prosecuting lawyer submitted there was a prima facie case against Dowie.

Returning the case to Antrim Crown Court and scheduling the arraignment to be heard on March 18, District Judge Nigel Broderick freed Dowie on her own bail of £500, with a condition that she does not contact any employee of Clear Dental.
